Why 3 points are irrelevant

The talk is always about points and position in the league. Points are doubtless important when you are challenging for the title or scrapping against relegation, but today was not about 3 points.

Today was about our team winning in style against one of the top teams in Europe. It was about them showing the massive worldwide Premiership audience that they can mix it with the very best and triumph.

Football is about winning games, scoring goals and playing with style. Today's win was worth 10 normal run of the mill victories. We may not get 30 points for it, but the football we played was magnificent, and the goals we scored were sublime.

Well done to Steve Bruce and every player who represented the club today!
