Default Losing the YoYo club tag

Finally we look been a consistent top flight team. As we look pretty safe this season next year will be our 6th season in a row in the premier league.

Surely has to be the longest we have been in the top flight in a long time. The team under Reid managed 4 seasons.

Losing the tag as a YoYo club will help us when signing players as before it always could look like their may be signing up for a relegation battle.

    Happy days

Yep at last we aren't up and down. We also look like a consistent Premier League club that can push forward and do better things.

It'll be the longest sustained top level stint in my supporting lifetime, and I can only see it being extended as long as we have this wonderful manager. How nice it is not having to live on our nerves at this time of year for a nail biting run in.

even under Bruce with his losing streaks I think we had moved up from yo-yo to " bottom half perma struggler" just because of our squad strength ( Thanks Ellis!) This spell is different from the last one in the top flight because we've been able to change manager ( three times !) and not go down . For me that's the mark of a permanent premiership side : the squad is basically strong enough and experienced enough - they just require competent management ( another good call from Ellis on MON over Hughes altho again our squad is much better than QPR's even after Hughes' panic buys )

Kenny Daglish said he was pleased his Liverpool players matched Sunderland, never thought I'd hear that said.

Pissed mesell over that - mind if I was a Liverpool fan I'd have wanted him sacked on the spot

Those were tough years, too. Always hanging on, buying past it players like Joe Baker, Gordon Harris, Calvin Palmer etc.

Every time we'd see some light it got snuffed out.

Then when Toddo got sold, that about summed things up.
