    Default Groundhog Day

Here we go again, I can understand people getting excited for the forthcoming season; however, speculating about europe and how much the Newcastle supporters are worried about how good we will be next season and how poor they will be.

Meanwhile Newcastle are going about there business very quietly, yet seem to have signed some decent types and have a couple of long term injuries returning, personally I think we should just enjoy what we have without claiming bragging rights until we achieve something, after all apart from a couple of Man Utd players who are approaching the twilight of their careers and may be injury prone and a young striker who hasnt proven himself at this level but has plenty of potential our signings are at best at the moment mediocre.

Now call me pesemistic, however, I have watched Sunderland for a long time now and have seen players come and go, I agree that what we are seeing at the moment is a massive step change in the way that we have done business in the past, but it is also a massive change in the squad structure, which could go one of two ways lets hope my glass is half full by the end of the season and that our new signings click from day one.

Finally lets stop worrying about what our friends up the road are worrying about or doing in the transfer market, I have said before we are now a club that is bigger than a couple of Derby wins and i will take losing both Derby games for a place in europe.

Heres to a cracking season and hope all of the hype is worthwhile, thank you Niall Quinn and Ellis Short for your input, lets hope Steve Bruce has the ability to pick a team that is tactically right for every game an dnot just his best 11

Echoes my thoughts entirely. Let's not get carried away until we have actually produced the goods on the pitch.

We had decent players last season and it tailed off disappointingly. I think that our manager is excellent at identifying good players but jury still out on his ability to them mould those signings into a successful, consistent team. There can be no excuses next season.

All comes down to how they gel together....teamwork, derived from many to play as one, motivated to excel and combining in a way that comes from practice and familiarity, being accustomed to each other, relying on the skills of others to anticipate the next move, generating a sixth sense, understanding the limitations of ones partners, knowing what the others will do...and so on.
Which in my book says training, practice, chemistry and motivation.
The earlier we start..the better the chances of achieving cohesive teamwork to a pattern or style.

i think Bruce has got this in mind also as the early signings signify the need to mould them at the soonest opportunity.

Much better tactics than previous pre-seasons.

I disagree. I think all of our signings have been very shrewd and will give us what we lacked most last season: depth.

Larrsson & Gardner are good players. Slightly better than what we already have.

Ji will surprise people next season.

Westwood, actually I don't know. Never seen him play before.

I'm already starting to see "our best squad in years/my lifetime" etc being posted around, which has been a recurring statement these past few years. Then we get to the end of the winter of each season and by that time the squads usually full of shite not fit to wear the shirt.

I'm fairly pleased with the additions, still sad to have seen Jordan go but it couldn't be helped I suppose.

As for the scum - don't care what they do or what they think. I just hope we're ready for them come August. After last year's disappointments I'll not be getting too carried away or over confident.

Well said OP, one of the worst feelings ever stood watching them fuckers celebrate their 3rd below me and making the shut you mouth gesture. We'd bigged ourselves up so much to fall so heavy
