Why specifically the '80s? It hasn't been shut that long. can't recall when it shut, but I used to take the bairn regularly in the late '90s and it was still going then.

I loved the crowtree leisure centre pool that much i'd actually have dreams that i had it all to mesel and i could turn the wave machine on and off when i wanted, and the water slide was about 10 times longer and faster than in real life. Oh ambition!

My Dad used to take me there on a weekend when he lived up Fatfield or somewhere. Temple Park Leisure Centre in Shields still have their wave machine.
