Any upward changing of speed limits would have to go hand in hand with a more severe test imo. Never going to happen.
Plus the road safety campaigners would be up in arms. The first fatality of anyone legally doing 80mph would cause mass hysteria. Then there's the environmental impact of cars being more fuel heavy at higher speeds yadda yadda yadda repeat ad nauseum. Basically it'll never happen

Probably wouldn't have a problem with 80/90 on motorways etc but moaning about having to do 20 or 30 in those zones is just pathetic. They're there for a good reason usually (and I'm not talking speed cameras).
Motorways : 80mph dropping to 60mph when wet/poor conditions
Dual carriageway: leave at 70 dropping to 60 in wet
'National Limit' should be dropped to 50 for single carriageway, with those good enough for 60mph being sign posted as such. Too many people use speed limits as a guide on country roads.
