    Default Five Live debate.

On people choosing the sex of their babies because they're "distressed" at not having the sex of their choice. One mother of three sons going so far as to say she wanted some "balance to her family".

Only problem is it could quite easily lead to an imbalance in the male/female ratio on the plannet

Agreed. For the families that have loads of lads, theres a family that have loads of lasses. The principle is fine if it was a global option, but it wont be.

Ethical and financial considerations too. Apparently people are using abortion as a way to achieve their ends. In terms of the NHS providing the service there are considerable costs involved. I enjoyed the comment from the medical ethics professor "Babies as therapy".

People should be happy to be able to have babies. I know a lot who can't and would give everything to have children.

More proof the world has gone mad!

Given the chance Im sure some nutters would prefer to give birth to cats rather than children, they probably would treat them better too
