Possibly but only so much as phoning an ambulance. Once in Scotland where a bloke was knocked over then thrown in front of our car where we hit him as well. I genuinely thought we'd driven over the top of him.
Once outside the Harbour View when a young lass got knocked over.
Had mine saved a couple of times so I'm a very lucky man.

Did mouth to mouth on my son when he was 2 and he had a fit and stopped breathing. He was very poorly and I'd been getting fobbed off with a viral infection by my GP for a few days. One evening his temperature went sky high and he had the fit, then was admitted to hospital suffering from double pneumonia.

My Mam had to do the back slapping thing on my brother when he was a toddler and he choked on a biscuit.

Sure Start do free first aid courses for parents. Definitely worth doing one if you have bairns.

I saved my troops life in Germany after comming into the barracks at 1 o'clock in the morning to find the room full of smoke after a fire was started by our sergeant who fell asleep with a fag. They had all be boozing after a military excercise had finished.
I woke them all up screaming fire, fire, fire.

The next morning a hungover sergeant said to me "Douglas, next time you save my life, don't f**king shout so load"

Is this still available? I thought the government had done away with it. I don't have bairns so might be talking rubbish.

I'm not sure. My daughter is 5 now so it was a few years since I did it. Would be a real shame if it has gone as I did several other sessions with them and found them really useful and it was nice meeting other Mam's and babies. Still in touch with some of them as our children are in the same class at school now.
