Unhappy Tech Help - Wireless router problem.

Problem I'm having, I've set my wireless router up ages ago with virgin broadband.

The thing is, I don't have anything wireless from it and my xbox is connected via the wire to it. Ideally I'd like it to be without wires as well as my laptop.

The problem being is that I haven't a clue what the password is for it, nor do I remember setting it up :-S , it has a p/w on it so I want to know the best way of changing it. I've tried all the codes etc on the actual modem as well as trying old p/ws from years ago but still no joy.

I know it sounds like I'm a right useless tit but can anyone explain how to sort this out? Cheers.

Wireless X box is shite according to my kids. That's why they are hard wired into the router.

Are you sure it's a wireless router - aerials on the top and that

BTW the virgin wireless router I'm using in my digs is shit - signal keeps dropping out.

You'll need to log in to http://192.168.1.1 (probably) to change the password.

Suppose, wey the main reason is for our phones to use it wifi around the house.

I'm sure it's a wireless box, signal piece that sticks up at the back of it, really haven't got a clue .

Is that address directly to change your password? If so does it ask to confirm your old one, if it does then I'm screwed.

It'll prompt you to log in.. usually admin/admin or admin/password (you should at least have a manual that came with the router that will confirm this)
You can overwrite the old password/passkey once you are in.

Wifi on mobiles is shite anarl.

Right I'll give it a blast. This whole thing went tits up when we moved from a fibre optic are to cable, since then my connection is no where near as good and it's ruined my router system.

    Cheers

Well our old flat I didn't require a telephone at all, so I only had BB with virgin, now where I am I've had to get a telephone line installed as where we are now can't offer us the same broadband setup as before. It's more slow and streaming videos is a pisstake.

I assumed it was fibre optic to cable but I've already said I'm shite at explaining tech info
