Electricity Meter Replacement

Does anyone know if your electricity meter is ment to be replaced after a fixed period of time or not, just sure my current meter has been installed for at least the last 15 years if not longer....

You can ring up NEDL (is that what they're called?) quoting the number from your meter and they'll tell you.

These houses have been up 20 years & last year next door's was replaced but mine isn't due until next year so there doesn't seem to be a set period, unless maybe it's from date of manufacture & next doors was older stock.

thanks, its got stickers on it for Northern Electric so it must be getting on for about 22 years old at least as according to Wikipedia they have been defunct since 1990.
