I'd prefer a VAT cut and think it would stimulate the economy (i.e. consumer spending) more.

What's the odds after this 1 year freeze, there'll be a increase equivalent to 2 years' anyway?

Councils and their tax are a fucking shit rip off anyway. Apart from bin collections, WTF do they offer (and even then some want to go to fortnightly collections)? This whole wave of beaurocracy should be trimmed right down, all these fucking wind bag councillors, Lord Mayors etc who do SFA for their public money and expenses.

I think any cut is absurd under the current circumstances. A waste of funds.

The VAT rate is pretty much aligned to the rest of the EU anyway. the increase to 20% was a long time coming.

Fucking can't win can they? If they were costing you £72/year more what would you do?

All important services, granted but we don't need the host of people who purport to run them. Look at the makeup of any council and there are so many councillors for different "wards" which are absolutely tiny. Often these people are just party officials given a reward for their work for the party. Are you trying to say all of those services couldn't be run without them?

I'm all for employing engineers for street lights, librarians, road sweepers, skilled planning officials, lifeguards etc but most of local government is laden with unnecessary people, small time politicians who add nowt-WTF does a Lord Mayor do for example?
