Default Nick Clegg has hinted that the coalition might last more than one parliament

Two things strike me about this:

    1. There is a great deal of ideological common ground between Cons/Dems e.g. on the size/role of the state in people's lives and economic liberalism for those on the Orange side.

    2. Him and his boys must be REALLY enjoying their taste of power. Must be hard to imagine giving that up at the end of 5 years just to go back to third place. He will need 5 successful years to draw support away from Labour and cement the LDs reputation as being fit for government (remember they are trying to claw back from 80 years of oblivion)

Wonder if we might see some shifting of party lines as a result of this?

I would agree about Clegg getting the taste for power....whether he will be leader of his party in 5 years is another matter.

Can certainly see some Lib/Dems to the right joining the Tories at some point..David Laws would be one.

Shh, don't go pointing out the similarities about their neoliberal economics to all the naiive little numpties that are so shocked to see the Lib Dems aligned with the Tories.

Anyone with a brain cell could see this coalition coming.

very minor in the scheme of things, a few will go tory as historically they always have but they are going to lose a hell of a lot of core support to labour.

Getting a bit ahead of himself isnt he? Nothings actually changed yet, it might yet be the biggest fuck-up of a govt ever. Ironically, if it goes well the Tories would probably get a majority in the next election. I doubt they'd have any problems about letting the Libs fade back into powerless obscurity.
