Re: Best bookie for a weekly online Bent first scorer bet?
Wayne Rooney's goalscoring exploits hit a high spot on Saturday when his four goals against Hull took him to 19 for the season and 1.66 favouritism on Betfair in the Top Goalscorer 09/10 market. When he has started for Manchester United this season, he has delivered in the To Score market 13 times out of 22 (59%) and has been first scorer on eight occasions (36%).
In the latter category, however, he has been outstripped by Darren Bent, who looks unlikely to join Rooney on the England plane to South Africa despite an incredible scoring ratio for Sunderland. Bent has been first scorer in 10 games this season and effectively has been a 2.1 chance to score the first goal every time he has started.
The only other player to reach double figures for first scorer in the past five seasons was Cristiano Ronaldo with 13 in 2007-08, but that was over an entire season. This season Bent can almost match Rooney for his strike-rate in the To Score market, having scored in 57% (12 out of 21) of his starts.
When you read that it could be a one off this year.
