Default What does a hung parliment mean then?

Surely if the tories have got the most seats then they should be in charge?

It looks like its going to come down to whether the tories have more seats than Labour and the Lib Dems put together, which is looking extremely tight.

They don't have an overall majority ie over half of all seats in parliament. This means they would need the help of other parties MPs to pass legislation etc.

It's up to Brown to see if he can deal with the Libs and Tories to deal with the Ulster Unionists etc to get their majority.

Now then, both equations add up to about the same amount of seats which means no party will be able to get owt through parliament really.

Another election beckons which I reckon will result in a Cameron government unless something spectacular happens.

Like Brown resigning and being replaced by a more voter-friendly chap like David Miliband or Alan Johnson which would lead to a small Labour majority IMHO.

So you think it right that in a parliament of eg 100 seats, that if one party has 40 seats and the rest have 60 between them, then the minority tell the majority what to do?

Methinks you underestimate the strength of feeling against this utter shower of shite. I simply cannot see how appointing yet another fucking prime minister we haven't voted for is going to change the current swing massively in favour of Labour.

New thing to me but surely it means a Parliament that no matter who is at the top, they get shit for 'not being elected in' with a majority.

Highly likely if Brown manages to get his coalition that the Tory press would absolutely crucify him to the extent that they couldn't hope to stay in power. Not sure about the other way round
