    just starting now on Sky Showcase (303)

    To this day I can't go into a hotel bathroom without thinking of The Shining.

    But I much prefer the later version of the story, the one with Stephen King in it for a few minutes. It's much scarier.

    Read the book years ago, but the part with the woman in the bath was superbly crafted. One of those passages where the book takes over and you have to turn page after page.

    What puzzled me about the film was that they included the cook (i forget his name) yet he didn't really have a purpose whereas in the book he is more heavily involved and doesn't die within 5 seconds of entering the hotel.
