Been up in Sunderland this past week, seeing family with the new bairn.
Was really nice to see family and friends, all was going well.
Looked at a few houses, even thought "what if" in terms of ever moving back to the area.
Then just in time I got a big reminder of one of the reasons I left in the first place; the people.
Yesterday the missus nips off to Roker Park with the kids for a bit of fresh air, comes back in floods of tears. Why? Well first off she was threatened by one fat lass with a sneering look saying "you need to be careful round here with a buggy like that". Then the was the lass smoking sitting right next to our lass and out two week old bairn.
Now the fair enough, my missus couldn't keep it in and asked her to stop smoking next to the bairn, but she didn't deserve to be threatened by said lass and her mates "what did she say?" "needs to be careful like" etc etc
Then to top it off they let the bigger kids play in the small child area who knock my 17 month daughter over, scraping her knee. Now if I were there, or this was all that had happened then no problem, things happen, but on top of everything else and with the parents giving her the evils she packed up and came home.
A bunch of flowers later and she's not as upset but I guess I should be thankful for the reminder that half the problem up here is the sizeable group of snidey jealous cnuts who live here, spoiling it for the nice decent folk.
