Default Going to the match with your 'old man'…

Even though this is from a Millwall fan, its still quite a touching story…

success was thin on the ground in the first years of our shared support. The petchey and anderson eras meant that the terraces were a lonely place at times and few games lasted long in the memory. For me, performances on the pitch were incidental. I used to love standing with the other kids at the front of the cold blow lane terrace, desperate to get autographs. Even if it was only bobby shinton, nicky chatterton or andy massey.

Yes, it's why a lot of us support the club.

    A good read that was.

I go with my old man and I reckon if he stops going, a real possibility with his failing health, I'll probably pack it in as well. The modern game and player is so far removed from your average Joe these days that it makes you wonder why you bother spending hundreds of pounds on it each year.

Fuck me, I'm so much more depressed now than I was half an hour ago.

Great read, thanks for posting it.

My old man passed away two years ago this October and this article struck a chord, as I'm sure it will with many.
