A fellow cast member claimed EastEnders chiefs had offered Womack more money and more uplifting plots to try to persuade her to stay on.

However, the actress is thought to have told bosses she is 'a mother first and an actress second' before announcing she will be leaving the show in May.

A source told The Sun: 'The last couple of months at work have been awful for Sam. The first time she read the script, she thought it was wrong and pushed boundaries too far. It was such a sensitive issue, she knew it would cause a huge backlash.

This is bollocks. All the 'Mums' who are complaining about this storyline making infant death syndrome sufferers appear like madwomen, should all be capable of realising that its just a fucking soap opera.

By suggesting that others can be taken in by it they are confirmaing themselves to be the patronising bunch of middle class arseholes that they are.

the current story line is way over the top imo like, swapping dead babies about with your neighbours especially at 19:30....
