Default With these new financial rules coming in

Surely our best chance to compete for when they do kick in is for us to spend decent money over the next few years, and do so on youth, or relatively young players.

If they were in now we wouldn't have been able to purchase Bent etc... last season and if we are still needing to progress to where we want to be when the final level comes in (Not until 2016 ish?) then we will find it difficult.

If we can get ourselves in a position of European football by then, a strong scouting network and great academy production line then we will be fine. But we really need to get everything in place in the next few years and if Short/Niall are interested in serious investment to get us to that stage then surely it needs to be over the next couple of window's before we wont be able to

agree but i think they are definately demonstrating this now.
i cant see how anyone can challenge the established teams anymore if this is implemented
noone in the lower throws of the premier league or the championship can ever aspire to be top 10 premier league on those restrictions, apart from possibly teams out of their natual position like leeds and newcastle
would we see everyone spending a great deal of money trying to get noticed in china etc to boost revenue?!

I havent read the proposals in detail, but from the headline the implications seemed to be the punishment for not spending within your means seemed to be being banned from Europe, in which case it will only upset the top 8 teams or so on current and the rest of us can spend a bit more to catch up. Anyone know what other punishments are in place?
