    Default One for the optimists

I watched virtually every home game from 1968-88 until I emigrated for work, and have flown back for certain matches eg last game at Roker, play-off final etc. I say that to dissuade certain young lads that I am, in fact a Mag.

I have been perhaps a little over the top recently and that is down to the sale of Jones, with no replacement in sight. We are lightweight up front without him or someone of his ilk. Bruce has needlessly put all the good stuff he has done at risk IMO.

Funnily enough, I don't think Jason Roberts is too bad a player, he puts himself about and could be a good foil for Bent. Rather him than 12m for Gyan frankly. We need established Premier League players who have seen it and done it

N'Zogbia would be nice but who is going to head in his crosses?

I await the end of the transfer window with bated breath, in the hope that I can once again become a happy Major.

    Here's to a hat-trick from Kenwy....er....Campbell.. ..on Saturday.

    Love to you all.

I agree with you on Roberts. If he comes on a free and reasonable wage I can see him doing a similar job to Beattie for Stoke season before last - i.e. not first choice but able to bundle the ball in during the last twenty or whatever

Hopefully we'll not be trying to play a system that involves wingers aimlessly only ever looking to do one thing, trying to get to the byine and whipping in crosses, ie. a flat 4-4-2, it's a bit outdated.

4-2-3-1 is the future. Much more dynamic.

Good post apart from that .
