It says in the article he was severely provoked. I'm not saying at all that it is acceptable to hit a woman ever, but this lass isn't the saint she makes herself out to be.

Moreover, if this happened two years ago, why has she gone to the papers now? Is it because he's just been called up to the England squad?

My view:

Carroll is a violent, scumbag prick with talent. He'll piss his career up the wall before he's 25 at this rate, and I'd be amazed if he doesn't end up in prison somewhere down the line.
