    Default The AA

Just sent me a renewal for membership. Was £28 last year, never used them, put it up to £52, that will be automatically taken from my bank account.
One simple phone call and it is back down to £28.
How many people let such companies away with this? What a fucking nerve to even try it.
I am going out now to punch someone very small.

Every year I have to ring. What a waste of time. I reckon I will change if it happens next year.

It is part of the business model and they will get shitloads more cash from it.

As a percentage, how many do you reckon fall for it?

    1 in 5? No idea.

Probably don't look at the figures, then the direct debit comes out a month later, then they can't be arsed to ring.

I used them for insurance as well....up over 40% on renewal. Made the call...up 7%

However, I didn't notice the total bill included the separate membership, taken out of the acc. mid-month....didn't have the funds, they tried to charge me as well as the bank. Eventually received a £30 cheque to cover the bank charge.

    What a fucking mess.

    Yeah I do this too.

Been about £70 for roadside and recovery. Annual renewal is always 90-100, so phone and they sort it out.

Is AA membership actually worth it considering you can just call them if/when required and join on the spot?

I'm normally pretty good with these things but this year I reckon Ive been ripped off to the tune of at least £100 on my building and contents insurance. Renewal pack came and I put it to one side and forgot about it. Checked it the other day (2 months after the policy started ) and it seems pretty high. Must remember to look elsewhere next year.

    Oh, and re: The AA.

Can you not get free breakdown cover through your bank? I get free breakdown cover, holiday insurance, phone insurance, identity theft cover plus loads of other things.
