    Default Hire Car in USA

Was on here a few weeks back asking for advice around my San Fran/LA/Vegas trip.

Got another quick question I am hoping you can all help with.

We have booked 3 nights of digs in San Fran now and I am now trying to sort a hire car. Is there any point to having a hire car in San Fran or will it just be a nightmare trying to get it parked? Might be worth just booking the car to pick up on our last day in San Fran then drop off in Vegas at the end.

    Any thoughts?

Would you hire one in central London?

Just get the trams everywhere mate. We survived a few days in SF without touching the car.

we did a 3 day trip there in 2000 and hired a car, there are things to do such as the 49 mile drive where you play a CD in the car and it guides you to various points of interest, Golden Gate etc, your hotel should have a valet service and parking. Its relatively cheap and if you do decide to go for it ask for an upgrade to a sportscar, we paid an extra $90 for the 3 days and got upgraded to a Chrysler V6 convertible - was fun driving around.

Its a hell of a drive to Vegas like.

    Thanks guys

I know it looks miles to Vegas but we have 3 days in SF, then another 11 before our flight out of Vegas so looking to break it down into a bit of a road trip. Not confirmed routes or anything yet but hoping to drive down the coast stopping off for a night or 2 here and there, then inland to Vegas for the last 3 or 4 nights before home.

Definitely drive down the coast on the PCH. Go to see the Hearst Castle at San Simeon. Well worth it.

A Chrysler Sebring V6 convertible is not a sportscar, it wouldnt know a corner till its upside down in a ditch. That's why they don't sell them in the UK. Because they are shit.

We picked up the car on the way out of San Fran (before driving across the Golden Gate). The Bus service is pretty good and Taxi service relatively cheap.

We were given a Gold one !! Still when we were on Rodeo Drive there were some asian people taking our pics at the traffic lights (clearly they will literally take a picture of anything).
