Default Apple TV 2 Remote Control and XBMC

I installed this yesterday and I'm loving it.

The only problem is that I can't figure out how to change the video settings once a movie is playing, there's also no volume control while playing video. Is there some weird button combination I need to press to bring up the menu to change the subtitles etc...?

Is it worth getting one rather than getting an aerial installed into my bedroom.

Can you watch the freeview channels on it...?

Hold im the middle/select button and it should bring up video options at the top.

Ive just installed the XBMC remote for Android and got that working, fantastic for controlling XBMC no need for the Apple remote.

Remove the apple software and run XBMC.

Don't quite get this - have apple actually produced a good product that's technically better than everything else out there for a good price?

Its odd to buy apple kit then remove the apple-supplied operating system, as that's the bit everyone usually loves?

yeh but does the XMBC thing just mean you can play more file types that are on your computer?

or does it give you access to like a mass of free downloadable content driectly through the apple tv

i would get one and do it if it was the later. but can't be arsed with downloading it onto the pc all the time first, as i might as well save it straight to a dongle and then watch on the t.v

It's not removing the apple software it's just adding xbmc to it

Ah, sorry. There's 2 ways to run XBMC - one is just as an application, the other is as a operating system

I use it to play additional file types from my PC and also other addons such as FlashStreamSports.

You could use Icefilms to play TV/movies but that doesn't work since Megaupload was closed down.
