tips for when in valencia

just arrived in valencia for 5 nights with my 2 boys 10 and 12 ive been before but curious if anyone has any good suggestions for things to do places to see etc...

will definitely hit the beach for a day do the museum of art and science at least once and have a mooch around the old city and churches cathedral etc... tapas aplenty I guess Valencia playng away as are levante else would plan a game anyway much appreciate any tips just back from initial trip to fresh fruit market and weather hot

Barrio del Carmen some good cheap grub houses, dont forget Valencia is the home of paella.

we will do paella for sure shame about the tomatina festival thing have heard of this we will do a good bit of exploring and chilling out really
not much spanish between us sadly so far we are smiling a lot at people saying ola and pointing like maniacs at food, drinks. ice cream oranges (first class fruit here - nothing in england compares re oranges !!) all quite hilarious great fun

cheap hostel 230 quid for 3 bedded room for 5 nights and 130 quid for ryanair flights from bristol starts the easter hols off nicely

No offence but it sounds a bit shit to me.

If you wanted to sit on a beach and eat oranges you could have gone to Seaburn.

A bloke at work is from Balenthia, it might be near Valencia but I can't be arsed to ask him. He's probably asleep at the moment anyway. Manana.

Find a good restaraunt with loads of spanish in, point at the largest gathering of locals, then point at the table and say to the waiter/manager, La quinta por favour, you will be made welcome and at least they will know you are trying to speak the lingo. Integration is the key

Easter celebrations will be starting on Sunday, plenty of parades etc, pity you will be on your way back home.
