    Default Any ideas?

Hiya, could anyone recomend an alternative lens to the standard one which came with my Sony 200.
I bought this camera mainly on cost issues and advice from the camera shop.
Its my first dslr from years of compact use and generally am well happy with it. However, having read a few reviews it seems the lens kit could be better.
    Any help would be welcome

well if its any help i replaced my kit lens from the a200 with the newer kit lens that sony do now, 18-55 SAM lens, its better but not loads better, i only replaced cos i had a bit of an accident with the 18-70.

or if ya have a bit coin to spare then have a look on ebay at old minolta AF lenses, can pick some cracking ones up for under £50.

Am on a budget. If I know what kinda lens people recomend I can have a look around. No more than a 100 quid really, ideally, I'd like a general purpose one if at all possible before I expand into macro etc.

Cheers, thing is I dont really know what to look for. Is the original 18-70 a good lens or have I been mis-reading reviews?

some people say it's a poor lens and others swear by it, personally i had no problems with and used it a fair bit, but i smashed it when my tripod blew over, so replaced it with this

or if your looking for something super cheap then have a look at minolta lenses like this one..

just have a look around on ebay, you could easily pick up a couple of lenses for under a hundred quid.

by the way, alomost every lens that works with the sony dslr's is listed and reviewed on this site, its a fantastic site and one which every sony user should book mark ( if you haven't already)
