    Default Westwood on his way?

Skysports.com understands that Sunderland are set to win the race for Coventry goalkeeper Keiren Westwood.

The highly-rated shot-stopped is available on a free transfer after reaching the end of his contract with the Championship side at the Ricoh Arena.

The Sky Blues were keen to keep hold of the 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international but have been unable to agree fresh terms with their No.1

Black Cats boss Steve Bruce is in the market for a new goalkeeper with continued concerns over Craig Gordon's long-term fitness.

And the Wearside club look to have jumped ahead of Everton and Leicester in the battle for Westwood's signature.

Bruce confirmed at the end of last month that they would not be opening new contract talks with Gordon until he has recovered from a recent knee operation.
another decent move by Bruce imo.

Nope, but he's a decent keeper and will cover Gordon and probably take Mignolet's place in the XI.

We've needed a left back for years and we chase a right back, a central defender, a central midfielder and a goalkeeper...........our priorities seem to be off beam

He's FREE. We have only ONE fit keeper. Hope this settles any confusion you have been having.

Agree with this, but have a feeling Westwood is going to be our 1st choice with Gordon being moved on

Gordon is out for first 3 months of the season. We NEED another keeper as badly as any other position on the pitch.

Also, sorry if you suffer from extreme learning difficulties, but signing a keeper does not mean we are not allowed to now sign an outfield player. He is a free transfer and will be on decent wages, I'm sure the search for outfield players continues - we can target more than one player at anyone time you know.

Again, sorry if your severe learning difficulties mean you have a valid reason for not understanding this.
