It wouldn't be pointless - we'd want him as a Left Back not a centre back.

Hes not really a left back though is he, wouldnt give him a two year deal either wenga doesnt seem too fussed in loseing him and played him as a last resort when he did.

He's played both positions at different times. Pretty flexible.

Not that I'm fussed. I can never get excited by signing players at the tail end of their careers.

He was probably a better left back at his peak than he was in his favoured position of centre half, that was a long time ago though and he's looked pretty much fooked in recent years.
