What would a billionaire want with a football club he has no link to. 73% of turnover goes on wages, he will never make money.
He isnt on a par with the Man City owners in terms of finance who have different motives.
I obviously am very pleased to get him on board but unless Bruce somehow gets us in the Champions League, I fail to see how Short would ever begin to recoup some of his outlay

What would I want with an XBOX 360 given I wont ever recoup its value? He will get more of a buzz out of owning a Prem football club than I do owning and Xbox and probably costs him a similar amount in terms of his overall wealth.
If the figure of £1.7 billion touted before is correct I dont suppose his investment to date amounts to even 1% of that figure.

To get to where he is, he has obviously been successful in everything he has done in a very short space of time. To people like Ellis Short, projects like this are challanges to test their abilities to succeed where many people fail but the difference is, it is in an environment that creates intensity and passion. He has been sold a club by Niall that can be huge with a small amount of success due to the passion of the following. That is why Niall is so forcefull in demanding improved attendances. I have no doubt that over time Ellis could make money out of SAFC due to the success he has achieved so far. We are undoubtedly worth much more now than when he bought us. I just hope he does not get bored and keeps wanting to drive on and is bitten by the Sunderland bug.
