Unhappy Falling Out Of Love With Football

Is it just me that this has been happening to more and more over the last few years?

The top clubs are so far ahead now they won't be caught unless a rich Arab is bored and looking for a new toy. There's no chance these days of a Clough like manager going into a smaller club and battling for the title.

The very best we can do is hope to become a regular participant in the Europa League, which whilst being a good experience, one the face of things is nothing more than a distraction with very little prestige.

That's not to mention other factors such as the poor officiating towards the smaller clubs when they face the big boys as the referees like to get friendly with ''JT'', ''Wazza'' and co.

I've found myself getting more and more into American sports over the last few years as the whole set up seems to be much fairer. The poorer teams get the opportunity to take the best up and coming young players and smaller teams are only a couple of drafts away from challenging for honours. Salary caps are also used based on the leagues revenue.

Obviously the above won't happen in football over here but it just further highlights how unfair and out of touch modern day football is when compared with other sports.

Hopefully very soon the bubble will burst and the whole thing will come crashing down. I won't hold my breath, however.

Yes, I'll still watch it (via streaming sites etc for neutral games and get to as many SAFC games as I can as usual) because I love the club and the game, but modern day football is fucking shite.

I agree. I think there lots of reason why people become disillusioned.

    1) Obsense ticket Prices
    2) Sky ability to move a fixture (Stoke is a classic example that games had 3 different times)
    3) Lack of Loyalty. The Bent & Gyan situations highlight how two faced football become.
    4) The fact that ordinary players earn more money in a year than most earn in a life time

I think the only way you have a chance now, is if you have a chairman that is willing to invest obscene amounts of money and a decent manager who can keep players happy and motivated.

Football is all money dependant now,

And when we pump 4 passed Stoke () everything will be rosy again. That's football. It drives us all insane, it frustrates the fuck out of everyone and yet come Saturday at 3pm I couldn't possibly be doing owt else other than following the lads.

Today is the first time I've questioned how I feel for the game. It costs £000's a year for me to follow. I fear this may be my last season as a ST holder.
Struggling to see why I should pay a large % of my income to give uncaring players a millionaires lifestyle.

this, the money we pay does not really go to the "club" it goes to a player who whenever wants just fucks off.
