I just don't get it. All these threads on shares and everything, I just don't understand how I get started with it? Say i've got 10k sitting in a bank doing bugger all. Should I go to a financial advisor or something, or are there decent (idiot proof) guides out there?

I was thinking about buying a property but for a 10k deposit not sure if I'd get out.... I'm well out of touch with whats going on back home like

You'd get bugger all for that though, some of them go for 100s of thousands!

There are loads of share dealing websites on t'internet nowadays, just pick one and get going, you need your head screwed on mind and a bit of luck!!

Try 'The Naked Trader' by Robbie Burns. (I think edition 2 or 3 may be out now)
He tells you everything you need to know to get started. Really good read as well.

I recommend it highly.
