Köln vs hoffenheim tonight ...
Frau Johnain and I are off to see the match in Köln tonight with about 20 of her family. Really looking forward to it.
She has opted for the 1937 Sunderland shirt, I will be content with a scarf (cos I am an old git and look ridiculous in an SAFC top now).
It will be interesting to see Hoffenheim again, they didn't need to get out of cruise speed in the friendly.

The top 3 in Germany looked a bit bizzare last week Mainze top, Hoffienheim second and Frieberg third!
Few sights in football better than the South Stand at Dortmund in full flow - think it holds 25,000.

Similar in Italy tbh, apart from Inter.
Probably the same in most leagues, but the beginning of a season always throws up so surprise results.

If you've seen Podolski play for his country you won't recognise him at the Geissbok tonight, lazy bastard. The joke in Cologne is you know it's Thursday if you see Lukas at training.
They've been a bit shit for a while have Koln and Hoffenheim are looking class again, could be a long night for them. Tell me if they bring the goat mascot out onto the pitch like they did last time I went!
Atmosphere is class mate, enjoy it.

Hoffenheim looked an excellent side against us, no surprise to see them flying high in the Bundesliga so far. How are they rated in Germany?
Haven't they just signed that Icelandic lad from Reading? Surprised noone in the Premiership took a punt on him TBH, and I noticed that he scored last week.

I noticed that as well, for £6 million as well and he's only 21. He'd already scored a couple of goals this season for Reading.
I wouldn't have minded us going in for him. A goal scoring midfielder would have been class. Although i haven't seen him play so can't comment to much on him.

A lot of people were raving about him, especially his set-piece delivery. His free kicks and corners are out of this world. Might have come in handy for us this season huh?

We can only dream of having someone who can take a decent set piece.

Funnily enough we were in a football bar in Bonn last night and they said the same thing.
I havn't seen a lot of German fooball,, just Köln, Hoffenheim, in Munich Bayern and the Lions and Borrussia Dortmund - but there seems to be an essential honesty about in that is sadly lacking in the Prem.
