Would somewhere like Game allow me to pre-order Fifa10 and trade in NOW a couple of games against it ?

I'd imagine so. When you trade in they'll just give a credit note - use this to pre-order the game at the same time.

So will I get the trade-in rate rather than simple sale rate ?

When you trade in, they give you a rate for credit note or cash - the latter is always less. You should be able to pre-order with the credit note though, so it should be fine.
