Would it not make sense to start McCartney, Reid and Healy on saturday?
Considering all 3 are back at the club and all match fit due to playing for there loan clubs.
With injuries mounting and the scum on the horizon I think it would be the sensible thing to do along with the likes of Angeleri and Riveros etc

Id much rather we start some of the young lads desperate to make a name for themselves than journeymen who are sure to move on soon and probably wont care if we win or lose

On the radio last night Bruce said he was looking to extend their loans or get rid. He said that he's told the players out on loan that he can't offer them a place in the squad, never mind the team, and that they're better off staying where they are.

Personally i agree. We need to get through in the cup, but a team involving these players and other "fringe" players and a couple of youths should be enough to get through. We have so many injuries that we cant take chances, not only because the next game is the derby, but also because every league game is vital now we are in the hunt for a european place. Something like:
Mignolet
Angeleri Da Silva Ferdinand McCartney
Elmo Riveros Rico Reid
Healy Cook
would be good enough to expect a win, whilst saving the likes of bramble, bent, gordon, gyan, hendo and steed for the derby

Re: Would it not make sense to start McCartney, Reid and Healy on saturday?
I've been keen on having a decent cup run, but IMO right now the FA cup is the lowest of all our priorities.
All our fringe squad players that are not on loan can be picked and put in the shop window for this match as far as I'm concerned (which would pretty much negate your proposed players, but the sentiment remains the same).
We cannot afford any more injuries, and just as the Mags threw their League cup game for the derby by fielding a weakened side, we should field a weakened side for this match, regardless of it being the Mags up next.

It makes perfect sense if you want to be beaten.

typical, stick adam reed in instead then (if he's available). our youth sides look canny, so we must have players capable of joining in and playing a part

Agreed.
I'd play something along the lines of:
Mignolet
Angeleri Da Silva Ferdinand McCartney
Elmohamady Riveros Reid Cook
Richardson
Bent
