I was at that match, West Ham in the Cup. Men had died at the colliery earlier in the week, the WH fans raised a collection (one reason I could never hate WH fans since). Don't remember the town crier though.

Love the current advert on Radio Noocarsel where some councillor(I presume although he might just be some gadgie in The Bridges) is claiming the city has made major strides forward and someone from Gatesheed is saying a lot of people already think Gatesheed is a joint city with Noocarsel. That would be extremely fucking thick people then Joint cities in the Geordie nation. They make the fucker up as they go along
