Default 3rd top ten finish in my life time

and every one of them promised much much more. The three best seasons I ever saw ended with a 'what should of been'.

Are we destined never to achieve the holy grail of Europe?

As the top 6 places I would say are more or less sown up its will be very difficult to qualify through the league, but with bit luck in one of the cups then who knows eh

It was an unexpectedly good end to what has been, since Christmas, an underwhelming season. Reason for guarded optimism, but I'm not jumping on the 'Steve Bruce- managerial god' bandwagon just yet. When we were poor we were utterly abysmal and there's still the small matter of being thrashed 5-1 by the Mags away and a poor performance against them at SOL. I've never seen us less prepared for two derbies than those two games.

Who gives a fuck about past derbies, we beat them 9-1 but that was also in the past.
If they want to bring old games up then i'm happy to do that.
It's not like after 100 years they still haven't managed to turn it around, even when we were in the third division and they spent hundreds of millions on a regular basis.
How shit must that be, your record loss is against a third division team.?
Never seen a mackem in Milan, no, but i saw plenty of fat mags in Scunthorpe last year.

We're talking months ago, not decades ago, or years ago. Thanks to results going our way and the team doing what it needed to against a terrible West Ham side, we finished 10th. Great, but I don't think it's unreasonable to ask why we've been so inconsistent for two seasons, or why the team performed so poorly in two derby games this year.

Injuries and new players, also having the youngest premiership side.

I think so. The top teams will no longer be able to buy success soon and we have an excellent academy. 5 years we will have had european footy

I think you can get pedantry treatment on the NHS these days mate. Look up NHS direct/pedantry for details.

FFS, I'm an engineer not a fucking English teacher.

PS - and it was quote, so I don't even take full responsibility!!

It's tantamount to tickling my balls mid-coitus.
