    Default York: What to do?

After the success of finding a hotel after my previous thread, I thought I'd ask the great SMB on any tips for visiting York.

    In particular:
    • A nice restaurant (£40ish per head - don't mind spending less if I can!)
    • What to get up to for 2 days
    • Any sort of nightlife (bars)
Going with the lass, nope, so tips for a couple rather than a load of lads.

    Thanks.

Guess it will depend on what food you like really, what you like doing, as for drinking there are pubs everywhere in the central bit (inside the walls). What day/nights are you there?

visit the guy fawlkes pub (forget the exact name), but you'll get a warm welcome, character, atmospheric and dare I say it with the threat of being accused of being gay on here, romantic

There's loads of history and shit, maybe you can do that to kill time for a day. Isn't there a street where you can shake hands with the other side of the road or something? Like the narrowest street in UK.

If you get bored Sunderland is nearby.

Yes, the guy Fawkes inn, it's right next to the york minster,
It's got Old gas lamps and it's haunted apparently. It's the house guy Fawkes was brought up in.

Definitely worth doing one of the ghost tours if you're still there after hours. They're perfect entertainment for couples and the hosts are usually great at working the crowd. There's some scary places among those there cobbles.
