    Default Cheapo tastic lighting

I'm going to head down to Wickes and grab a few 250w halogen lights on mounts for photographic and video work. I don't have the money to drop 250 quid for one 'traditional' light/flash, so sod it.

Apparently halogen lighting is surprisingly fine, it's mostly the heat that's the issue.

I'll have to make some sort of diffuser frame too.

If I ever needed anything more, there is a studio half a mile away in Hebburn that is only 20-30 quid an hour with a full setup.

Any idea's for a DIY softbox / umbrella / diffuser?

Some have made a wooden frame and tracing paper. fire hazard?

Make sure the lights are rated at 5000 Kelvin or you'll have a nasty colour caste on your shots.

Top tip from a pro tog I know: If you can find a shop that sells material (for making clothes and all that) get some of the stuff they use to line the gusset of womens swimsuits - it works really well.

if you get one of those 6-in-1 reflector bollocks, the middle is a decent diffuser
