HELP !!! Slight dilema here....
Ok, I'm sat at work at the moment, pondering a dilemma I seem to have got myself into, I've decided to see what others would do in this situation, problem is a good few months ago I booked and paid for a w/end in London to watch the annual NFL game at Wembley (£85 for the ticket alone ) with a couple of my mates and my brother, unfortunately it's this weekend coming however I got confirmation yesterday that I now have a ticket for the mags game, I've been to loads of derbies at home but never been to one at the landfill, to complicate things I mentioned to the office manager a good while ago re the London trip and she said would be ok as it clashes with my w/end on, stupidly I didn't put my holiday request in officialy, I have now been told due to staff shortage I cant have the time off, obviously I can't fane illness and my mates are taking a very dim view of me putting the footie before the piss up. Any ideas/suggestions (no matter how ludicrouss) welcome -thanks

Sell your tickets to both and work the weekend. Think of how profitable it'll be for you. If you do this, you're an idiot.

Go to the NFL game and sell your ticket to me so that I can celebrate my birthday in style on 31st. Go on you know it makes sense

Would your work be ok if you said although you were told you could have the whole weekend off you were willing to put yourself out and work the Saturday, you could then use the having to work thing as your excuse not to go to London and go to the derby game

Re: HELP !!! Slight dilema here....
Tell your work manager that they already agreed to the time off and you arranged something. Should they wish you to work then you expect to be compensated for the cost of the ticket, flight to London and your stay in the Grovsnor on Park Lane. If they refuse then they shouldn't expect you in.
