London 2012 - football stadiums
This may be really old news, but I've just got this email from the London 2012 mailing list thing;
The City of Coventry Stadium, home of Coventry City FC, has been selected as the new Midlands venue to host Olympic Football matches in 2012.
Matches will also be played at Hampden Park in Glasgow, the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Old Trafford in Manchester, St James’ Park in Newcastle and Wembley Stadium in London.
Erm - isn't it London 2012?
And Hamden?!

Just seems a bit odd given how many footy stadiums are in London itself. If you're a Chilean sports fan who comes to London for the Olympics then I doubt you'll appreciate the 12 hour round trip between the football in Hamden and the weight-lifting in East London. There's nowhere in London for the sailing really, so that bit makes sense.

it's not like London doesn't have enough stadiums like, you could have:
Wembley
White Hart Lane
Emirates
Stamford Bridge
Upton Park
Loftus Road
Selhurst Park
It's not like the games will be highly attended, every time I watch Olympic football it looks like there are 3 people there.

For Beijing 2008 they used stadiums in Shanghai, Shenyang and Tianjin. Glasgow is a London suburb in comparison.

Its just a way of spreading the games out to the whole country, I thought it was a UK bid, but London being the host city.
The sailing is taking place in Weymouth.
