Can anyone tell me why champions league footy when watched on the laptop often has those digital blocks on the pitch. Can't understand why some broadcasts like iplayer have mint quality whilst other stuff like the footy is so much poorer.

ITV Player isn't the same quality as iPlayer from what I've seen. I wish they'd do "HQ" version of ITV Player.

Doesn't need to be full HD. 420p would be fine - same for iPlayer.

Any idea how, say on the news, the picture is fine but when it cuts to highlights of a match the quality deteriorates?

    Compression.

On the news, hardly anything moves - so it takes hardly any data to display that picture.

In the footy, things are moving all the time.

Because the original source material is of lesser quality.

I like this. It should now be common place to thank people for there contribution. Particularly at milestones, like in cricket. People should have to say thank you's after 5 and 10 pages, and get there names on a board somewhere if they get over 25 pages.

There is an HD version of the iplayer. And there is also a higher quality version.
