    Default Whitley Bay

Whitley won the FA Vase beating Wroxham 6-1 yesterday. Great game, great atmosphere and a shining example of non-league football.

Also worth noting Mark Taylor one of Whitley's team last year was diagnosed with Motor Neurones Disease in January was there, and the team made sure he went up to collect the trophy with Bay skipper Leon Ryan.

Their also fundraising for the MND charity with a target of £100,000. Loads of events going on.

I used to play football with one of the lads on the Whitley Team (think he came off the bench yesterday) and he is without doubt the best footballer I have ever played with - it shows just how good the top guys must be (even Jeff Whitley) compared to we plodders in Sunday League footie!

He's their keeper so i'd have thought if he had of scored then SSN would have made something of it.

2 goals in the last 5 minutes made the score line more of a rout than the game actually was. Whitley were generally better all round but Wroxham certainly gave us some scares and with better finishing it could have been a much closer scoreline.
