Default Wigan view on Bramble deal

he Mail and Sunderland Echo are both touting the story that Steve Bruce wants to take Wigan Athletic defender Titus Bramble up to Sunderland after the Wearside club failed to sign original target Heiko Westermann

There have been a few comments that this is just a made up story but knowing the way that Steve Bruce conducts his business there is possibly some truth to the fact that he has turned his eye to Bramble

Bruce appears to love using the media to let players know that he is interested in them and there are many stories of faxes of official offers for players left lying around his office when members of the press are about.

The former Latics boss has riled his successor Roberto Martinez with his conduct over Lee Cattermole (who was offered three times his Latics salary to follow Bruce to the North East), the relentless badgering for Maynor Figueroa and the notification to the press that he was interested in taking both Charles N`Zogbia and Chris Kirkland up to the Stadium of Light.

Following the John Benson debacle and the fact that he ran up to Sunderland after Martinez had booted him out of the club I`d say that it would be highly unlikely that whilst Roberto and possibly Dave Whelan are still at the DW Stadium that any business would be conducted with Steve Bruce and Sunderland.

It would also be very surprising if Titus Bramble would want to leave the club he was brought to by Bruces predecessor Chris Hutchings, he has proved a great success at the Latics and signed a contract extension at the end of last season after Bruce had left saying at the time, "I love this club and I am very happy here, I want to be here for the rest of my career"

Now I know there isn`t too much loyalty in football these days but Bramble is as close to what you could call a club man as you can get. He speaks passionately and intelligently about the Latics and when you meet him you get the feeling that he is one of footballs good guys.

So there might be some truth in Bruce wanting Bramble but more than likely no possibility of it happening, in the words of Dave Whelan: "`tha con goo ern get stuffed Brucie"

Don't worry Wigan, we don't want the useless .

However, they really need to realise that if we show a serious interest in any of their players then they wouldn't stand a chance of keeping hold of any of them. Play infront of 15,000 most weeks or crowds of 40,000+?

Retards man, just another small club punching above its weight, they will be vanquished to the backwaters of English football where they belong soon enough.

They really don't realise they are a shit club. Do they really expect to hang on to decent players?

This is another myth, offer any footballer enough cash and he'd play in the Northern League in front of one man and his dog.
