Default Help needed RE: North West (Preston & Blackpool)

Basically looking to book up for a weekend for Blackpool away in January. Been comparing some prices and it appears far cheaper to stay in Preston which is apparently 16 miles from Blackpool.

I have looked on google but nothing was really very helpful so I have 2 questions for anyone who lives in or knows the North West well.

    1) How far is Preston (Lancs) train station from Central Preston?

    2) What is it like travelling between Preston and Blackpool?

    Cheers

I have stayed here 4 times, about 15 mile from Blackpool and has 3 pubs within 2 minutes walk.

Don't know much about Preston but have you tried the national holidays web site? They're doing a trip to Bpool on the Fri - 2 nights dinner, bed & breakfast at Norbreck hotel, return coach + 3 hours free bar both nights for £79.

Under NO circumstances stay at the Norbreck Castle hotel. I cannot advise you against it strongly enough.

Manchester has a direct Blackpool train.... maybe more travel lodges too?

Not very good with links but try this:

    http://www.nationalholidays.com/Itin...=1&areafilter=

If that doesn't work just go onto national holidays website, and look for tour ID 26901. Good luck!

the reason its so expensive that weekend is because its pigeon weekend when we get inundated with pigeon fanciers from all over the world, its probably the busies winter weekend of all, there's thousands of them descend with there families wives kids etc.
Have you had a look at lytham st annes there's quite a few hotels there and its only 5 minutes up the road from south blackpool.

IMO people are much more likely to slate hotels on TA than give good reviews - I've used National holidays loads of times for cheap weekends and the hotels have always been fine. Granted they're not 4*/5* but then I haven't paid 4*/5* prices.

Granted they're not 4*/5* but then I haven't paid 4*/5* prices, so they generally server as a good base. NH get the hotels chepaer because it's out of season.
