    Default Looking Forward

Starting from the back, I'd at stick with Mig for the time being. Brown and Bramble would be a strong centre half pairing. Bardsley once back frm suspension would be my left back, Ricco not doing it and Bardo looks a better player a LB. O'Shea right back but until he's fit we have a problem and I don't have an answer, Elmo or Ferdinand would be too big a risk. Midfield - we have to find a place for Vaughan and or Gardiner, Jack's done well but he doesn't hurt teams in the final 3rd but would be 4th choice centre midfield behind the other 3 for me. Larsson has to play in his preferred position wide right and Sess although hasn't done well wide left up to now is the one player who could adapt to that role well so would be pushed our there for me. Up top Gyan plus Wickham or Ji, let's just see how much more effective Gyan is with a target man alongside him. This formation would make us play thru midfield more, which I understand Vaughan is suited too, the tactic of the high ball up to Elmo wide right is far too predictable.

Bruce's sentimental line of keeping faith in the players who got us 10th last season is misplaced. For me I'd drop Mignolet. If Gordon is fit, he's the best keeper at the club so either flog him or play him.

O'Shea and Bardsley right and left full back. Brown and Bramble at centre half. Larsson right, Richardson or Colback on the left and Gardner has to play in the middle for me with either Cattermole or Vaughan. Sessegnon and an interested and fit Gyan up front, if he doesn't fancy it then Ji.

We're still seriously lacking a left back, left winger and striker though. He hasn't exploited the loan market as yet and I still wouldn't give up on Welbeck coming back

That's a shame because our problems lie deeper than a change of goalkeeper will fix.

I know, but that's the first thing that should happen imo. Mignolet continually concedes cheap and easy goals, and shouldn't be playing in this league imo, never mind playing for Sunderland.

Were only 2 games in, yes goalkeeping for the goal yesterday was very poor but he did make a couple of excellent blocks frok close range in the 2nd half to keep us in it. I think to say he is good enough for this level is harsh, for a young keeper he is progressing and has broke into his national side but that's your opinion and I respect that.

Without wanting this to turn into a Gordon thread, my opinion is he has conceeded soft goals on a regular basis and isn't the answer, lets give Eastwood a chance then.

I don't think Elmo, Bardsley or Mignolet deserve a place in our side. Richardson deserves a chance to prove his worth as a left back. He did relatively well there last season but due to injuries he was required to play in midfield and up front. He's not a bad player by any stretch of the means.

We desperately need a striker and a player to give us more balance down the left hand side. I'm surprised that already Larsson is being played out of position. I just wish Bruce would select players in their preferred position, it really is basic stuff.

Too soon for him to be playing week in week out, you are right about cheap goals, loads of potential but not yet. Have absolutely no doubt he will be "rested" after yesterday's display and a more experienced and able keeper will seize his chance.
