    Default Road bikes

Looking for a cheapo road bike. Have a hybrid and MTB, so just want summat that's light and fast. Currently using the hybrid for longish (30-40km or so) rides, and it feels like I'm lugging along unnecessary weight / friction.

Any recommendations? Is there a certain price threshold below which there's no point looking?

Saw a used Jupiter Utah the other day - any good?

I bought a Cube Agree last year, my first "racer" since I was at school and its great, but it cost a canny bit so it should be.

Personally if I had a limited budget I would go for second hand every time, and most road bikes i have seen second hand have been in good nick. The one thing I would advise though, is go to a bike shop and try a few out to make sure you know what size frame you need as I ended up buying a size smaller than I would have usually, and it turned out to be spot on.

Infinity at Durham is a good shop, the ones in town seem to have some decent stock and start fitness have loads of road bikes now. Or look on-line for a 2010 0r 11 model with 50% off as there are a few about.

Evans Cycles do 0% interest and have a large stock. Might mean you can stretch your budget a bit.

Boardmans are superb value, even though they are sold by Halfords, worth checking out depends what your budget is and what you want

Thanks all - I'll have a look at Wiggle and keep my eye on second hand.

I thought about a road bike but the roads are in such an awful state of repair up here I'd be replacing wheels every fortnight.
