Re: idea's for new olympic events.
What about if we involved hamsters?
Hamster tennis, replace the ball with a hamster, if it dies you lose the point, new hamsters please.
Hamster throw, replace the hammer ball with a hamster ball, swing it round and throw it, if it dies, your disqualified.

Re: idea's for new olympic events.
Get a drinking competition- there are both beer and spirit classes. Basically the athletes sit at a table and have 6 minutes to drink a pint (to make it last a decent while)/ 1 minute to drink a spirit, it continues until one competitor can't do it in the time limit or until one competitor throws up. If they both give up at the same round, the winner is decided by getting them to drive at 150mph round silverstone before they're allowed to sober up, first one to die loses.

I work with a lad who has been county champion, UK ranked, etc (ie. pretty handy with a squash bat) and he fumes about squash and generally the lack of coverage of his sport.

If people wanted to watch it, it would be covered- ITV and the likes dont give a fuck, they'll cover anything that will have people watching it as they know they can then charge more for advertising time. If no one wants to watch it, well, its hard to complain about a lack of coverage.
