Default Is Craig Gordon in last year of contract.

There is no recall available if sent to the SPL for a season.

CRAIG GORDON is back on Celtic's radar - as Parkhead chiefs boot out interest from Blackburn and Russia in Ki Sung-Yueng.

Boss Neil Lennon is desperate to land a new goalkeeper before the transfer deadline and has been alerted to the fresh position of Gordon at Sunderland after the Scotland star's quickfire rehabilitation from injury.

Celtic's move for Grzegorz Sandomierski failed last week and the Pole has signed a five-year deal at Genk.

However, Gordon is back in sight after a swift recovery from the knee surgery that appeared to rule out a swoop during this transfer window.

Black Cats boss Steve Bruce has confirmed a speedy comeback for the 28-year-old who could resume training this week.

But with summer signing Keiren Westwood and Simon Mignolet in possession of the jerseys, Bruce may let Gordon leave on loan and Celtic are monitoring the situation.

However, wage issues would have to be overcome with the keeper's s40,000-a-week salary a potential stumbling block.

Meanwhile, Parkhead chiefs have robustly brushed away enquiries about Ki's availability.

Rovers are among a host of English clubs, along with two top-flight Russian outfits, keen on the South Korean midfield star.

However, it's believed it will take an extraordinary offer before Celtic even contemplate discussing a sale.

The club will find out the extent of Gary Hooper's injury today when they get the scan results.

If he's back from injury quicker than though then I think he should have another run in the team with us and hopefully he can get a new contract in January. Top keeper.

It's odd that Gordon should be 'back on Celtic's radar' when the Celtic CEO basically said they can't afford to buy players from the Premiership and can't afford the wages. - Today in the Glasgow Herald.
