Selling Bent
was not only SB's decision which is the main reason why he is still hanging in there - IMHO

Re: Selling Bent
decision was made as a club, there wasn't any other real option imo. Board will still be behind bruce imo and he'll be here next season.
also if bent was still here we wouldn't be where we are now so its a theory that wouldn't even have arose had he not went.

That's a shaky hypothesis like. Nothing to suggest he would have been good enough for us to overcome injuries, stupid team selection, hoofball and a weak defence and midfield.

he'd score goals in any side, we were woeful for most of last season and he still managed 24 goals.

how much better could we have got, top scoring english striker in the premier league over the last 5.
only second behind drogba and torres overall iirc.

Fair point - he was playing like a man off and looks like a new (and better) one at AV!

Our back 4 are leaky as fuck. Do you think he would have scored 6 against man city?

Exactly. In fact, how often did Bent score more than one in a game? How often did he score in a game when others had? Not so often.
We've been ahead three times since Jan and got no points at all. That's an issue with a soft midfield and defence, not a lack of strikers.

nah but i dare say games like west brom at home and birmingham away were games where people would put a lot of money of him scoring in.
he's only one goal behind gyan and welbecks goals put together this season in the premier league. i know we hate him but to suggest he wouldn't score is bollocks imo.

2 goals in about 10 hours of football suggest otherwise, and one of them was an own goal. Aye our midfield is weak but bent is the type of player who scored when we werent playing well and we snatched loads of bent 1-0's last season.
and never mind 2 in a game? our strikers can't manage 1 between them at the moment.

How many assists does he have though? Gyan makes goals as well as scores them, need to factor that in.
Brum away-I could see him scoring there yes. But WBA we didn't make enough for me to suggest he would have scored, we wern't around the goal enough, because our defence were hitting it long or the midfield would lose the ball in the middle. Bent, any striker, can't overcome that.

i agree but the amount of times he scored goals out of fuck all was impressive. Fuck all service and still managed 24 goals. And we need midfielders who can assist atm, gyan is not a prolific scorer and the balls were put in the box on saturday but most of the time nobody was near them.
