Default Spend the Bent money on Sturridge......

and let's get on with the season ffs.

Chelsea would surely sell for £15m esp with Lukaka now on board and he would be the ideal repalcement for Bent.

Brucie lad, forget Crouch, Bendtner et al and get this lad signed up now.

The "Bent" money wasn't that much, 8m at most. Given we paid 16m (inc add-ons) and sold for up to 24m (in addons).

It's not up to SB it's solely up to Short and given how much he's tipped in so far he might be using any profit from player sales on operational costs or maybe to pay himself a well earned dividend.
It's his club he can do what he likes with the money, and thank god he is in charge

Given that we could afford 16m in the first place it is fair to assume that the 16m and the 8m could be available for purchases.
As I said previously though maybe short is saving the money for other reasons.
Then again the window hasnt closed.

He paid 10m up front then 6m. I'd agree that the money was there. I'd say that the ammount of money is almost limitless, however he hasn't really seen a return so will be a "see what you can do with this" scenario. The teams much better in theory at the moment, much better.

For lots of reasons i think Sturridge would be the best signing we could make. He's left footed which is a rarity in strikers so would be a natural fit playing to the left of a 4-3-3 with Gyan and Sess which would give us balance and pace either side of Gyan. He could also play the Welbeck role in a traditional 4-4-2. This would save on doubling up with a striker and a winger also. He fits the profile for future resale value too and if he and Wickham could form a partnership eventually we could cash in on Gyan.

Seems like a no-brainer but obviously there are hurdles to overcome.....Is he for sale?........and could we tempt him?

were we not going to pay for him if we hadn't sold him like?

Tin hat on but for the same reason (in a 4-3-3) you mention I'd have gone for DJ Campbell.

Cracking player that looks the real deal. Would be a major coup to get him, and its not beyond the realms of possibility either as I wouldnt expect Chelsea would be overly keen on selling him to their main rivals, which brings in the next tier of clubs that we are aiming to be. Would be a hell of a statement yet again by Short if he did sanction such a move, but it may well be too rich - that said, I think his sell on value would go through the roof if he had a 20+ goal season with us.

He would have been a very cheap alternative but he's right footed and i really think a natural left footer playing the left side of a 4-3-3 gives you lots more balance.

    He's left footed man

I'm convinced - well I think he is - as he used to drift out left for Blackpool and swap with the kid from Crewe (can't remember his name now)
