Default john terry's comments on england

according to john, it is good news all the champs league teams have been knocked out, as the squad will be able to all get together a bit earlier and get down to some hard graft in preparation for the world cup.

after reading this, i am now expecting photographs of the usual suspects within the england squad, rat arsed or wrapped around some bimbo in a night club.

to be honest, the sooner england are knocked out the better, as the tournament will only improve.

bar the odd game, the last 30 years worth of tournament efforts have resulted in some mind numbing football.

remember the early stages of both mexico 86 and italia 90? christ those were dull. then there was the efforts in the euros, germany 88 played three lost three, then in 92, two 0-0 draws and a 2-1 defeat.

the last world cup was hardly a demonstration of the so called fast flowing english style of football.

    cant wait

Plenty of hard graft so they can look good on the beach the day after the quarter-final. Or the second round if they play any decent team.

Are England the most over-ranked side in world football? We should be struggling to make the world top 20 imho.

England play what I term "fear football". They kinda tappy lappy it about at the back reminding me of old 1980's style European football, eventually take 5 minutes to mount an attack and once in front they then shit themselves and panic at the back.

Most of their tournament football takes place to a backdrop of not really believing in themselves and treating everyone like they were Brazil, particularly in the knockout stages.

the opening game against the USA will be interesting as they have a reasonable side and we could get caught on the hop. The smart money would say that could be a draw.

We'll lose again to the first decent side we meet in the knockout stages, not by much though, although it could get interesting if they were to meet an African side in the knock out stages as they potentially could meet 2 later on if England win their group and Ghana & Nigeria end up runners up in theirs.

If they played an African side I dont think they'd have so much of an inferiority complex and would stand a better chance. However if its Germany, Italy, Brazil etc. then we're out straight away.

They are in the rankings where they should be. They have consistently shown that they are the 8th best team in the world and if you look on FIFA.com they have a stat which shows over the years that their ranking system has been in place - thats where England on average are ie 8th or so.

However 8th of course wins you nothing and doesnt get you to the semis. It gets you exactly where England get knocked out - last 8.

not really at least I want them to do well. The other teams are hardly free flowing attacking football have you watched Italy France and Germany lately Christ they're dull to watch even Brazil are becoming more boring ! Dutch and Spain maybe worth a watch,

The worst international I watched was in 2006 Ukraine v Switzerland Christ it was dull even the penna shootout was crap.

Apart from Holland in 96 I can't remember a knock out game where we have played really well.

That aside, I will still be tuning in - can't beat the world cup for an excuse to get out for a few more drinks
